Concerning DARKLINE

In the Book of Thoth, Aleister Crowley quotes Keats while discussing the symbolism of the Moon card of the Major Arcana. The quote is from Keat’s sonnet “To Homer,” and the sentiment of that line (and a few surrounding lines) is the crux of this site’s intent.

Aye, on the shores of darkness there is light,
And precipies show untrodden green;
There is a budding morrow in midnight;
There is a triple sight in blindness keen;

It is not our intent to drag the mysteries out of the shadows and revel in how they shriek and shiver in the light; it is our intent to learn how to navigate the shadows. There is much that we do not see that is right before us; there is much that we know but do not understand; and there is much that we dream that we think not possible. DARKLINE is the threshold that lies between mystery and illumination, and we only hope to offer some guidance to those seekers who wish to cross the threshold.

We are not magicians in the traditional sense of practitioners of sigils and spells as handed down to us in grimoires, but rather, we are arcane investigators, seeking to explore our esoteric history: what we have lost, what we have re-discovered, and what we still do not understand. We hope to provide commentary on the occult underpinnings of our modern existence; and we will consider the possibilities of enlightenment which may come from applying the past to the present in search of a better future.

“Enlightenment is not imagining figures of light but making the darkness conscious.”
    -Carl Gustav Jung

DARKLINE is curated by Mark Teppo, writer and unrepentant bibliophile. He is the author of the CODEX OF SOULS, an occult-styled urban fantasy series from Night Shade Books. He likes to think that gives him some street cred, but really, he’s still a neophyte.
